Automation of Research Grant Processes

Using Robotic Process Automation to streamline ARC processes.

The Client

Go8 University

The Challenge

Our client needed assistance in automating and streamlining their Australian Research Council (ARC) Transcription processes.

Our Approach

The team was engaged in reducing the manual time taken to undertake essential data entry and validation activities between the ARC website data and the Research Management System.

This work was required to be undertaken annually by the Research Services Division. Robotic Process Automation (RPA) through UIPath was used to automate the end-to-end process.

Key Outcomes

Significantly reduced manual processing (copy/paste activity) between the ARC website and the Research Management System.

Results:

  • In 3 hours, the new automated process allowed 2,200 rows of data to be processed and completed. This process allowed only 120 rows of data when undertaken manually by a human.

  • Errors were significantly reduced through the automated process.

Benefits:

  • RPA can execute overnight, at weekends, on public holidays, on-demand, or while personnel are undertaking other tasks

  • Improvement in the transparency of transactions

  • Reduced risk through improved compliance as well as providing sector-leading access to ARC data

  • Freed up College and Division personnel to analyse the data instead of collecting it
